CAPTAIN TREVOR J.
CHARTIER (U.S. ARMY), a native of Wisconsin,
was
commissioned into the U.S. Army Infantry following his
graduation at
Northern Michigan University in 2001.
Captain Chartier was assigned to the 10th Mountain
Division (Light Infantry)
at Fort Drum, New York after graduating from the
Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning,
Georgia. He was placed with the 2nd Battalion,
87th Infantry where he served as a Light Infantry
Rifle Platoon Leader, Rifle Company Executive Officer,
Battalion Assistant Operations Officer, and Battalion
Air Operations Officer. While serving with 2-87
Infantry, CPT Chartier was deployed to Afghanistan to
conduct combat operations in support
of Operation Enduring Freedom IV. While
deployed, he conducted combat operations in locations
across the region to include Asadabad, Jalalabad, Bari
Kowt, Bagram, Kabul, Gahzni, Kandahar, and other
numerous locations within the Hindu Kush Mountains.
CPT Chartier was selected to be among the initial
cohort of officers and
NCOs to establish the new Light Reconnaissance,
Surveillance, and Target Acquisition Squadron as part
of the newly formed 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the
10th Mountain Division. The unit was designated
as the 2nd Battalion, 71st Cavalry (RECON) and later
redesignated as the 1st Battalion, 89th Cavalry
(RECON).
In 2006, CPT Chartier applied and was selected for a
transfer into the U.S. Army Military Intelligence and
attended the Military Intelligence Tactical Transition
Course and the Military Intelligence Captains Career
Course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Upon
graduation, he was again assigned to the 10th Mountain
Division at Fort Drum and returned to 1-89 CAV (RECON)
to serve as the Squadron Intelligence Officer.
Captain Chartier was deployed with 1-89 CAV (RECON) to
conduct combat operations in Operation Iraqi Freedom
06-08 where the unit assumed battle space in Southwest
Baghdad to include the volatile area known as the
"Triangle of Death". During OIF 06-08, 1-89 CAV
(Recon) became the first Army battalion to conduct
partnered combat operations with the reconciled Sunni
rejectionists that later became known as the "Sons of
Iraq" and "Concerned Local Citizens".
CPT Chartier is currently serving at the Michigan
Technological University
Reserve Officer Training Corp where he acts as an
Assistant Professor of Military Science and Recruiting
Operations Officer.
CPT Chartier's military training
includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Military
Intelligence Tactical Transition Course, Military
Intelligence Captains Career Course, Mountain Leaders
Close Combat Certification Course, Combatives
Instructor Course, Linear Infighting Neurological
Engagement (LINE) Instructor Course, Counter
Insurgency Academy, Anti-Terrorism Level II, and the
US Army Airborne Course.
His
awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Army
Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army
Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Iraqi
Campaign Medal, Afghani Campaign Medal, Overseas
Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global
War on Terror Service Medal, Meritorious Unit
Citation, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry
Badge, Parachutist Badge, and both Gold and Silver
Cavalry Spurs.

Chartier is married to the former Jessica Frederick of
Cass
City, Michigan and currently resides in Chassell,
Michigan.
