Biography:
CHIEF
HENNING retired from the US Coast Guard in 2000 after
serving 20 years. His tours in the Coast Guard were aboard
the Coast Guard Cutters Mellon, Munro, Steadfast, Redwood, Yocona and Acacia. He also served at Air Station Traverse
City, Michigan and two tours at Vessel Traffic Service,
Sault Ste. Marie, MI where he retired as their Operations
Center Supervisor.
His
military awards include The Coast Guard Medal (extraordinary
heroism), Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal, Expert
Rifle Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, Armed forces Expeditionary
Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and others.
Mr.
Henning worked at MTU’s Office of Student Records and
Registration as Veterans Certifying Official prior to
becoming the Army ROTC Supply Technician in 2008.
He is a
native of Whitewater, Wisconsin who relocated to the
Keweenaw area in 2002 and is married to the former Kimberly
Mayo of Baraga, Michigan. He has a daughter, son and 3
stepdaughters.
