PROFESSOR OF MILITARY SCIENCE:
Major David C. Woodruff Jr.

Current Assignment: Recruiting Operations Officer.

Biography:

Upon graduation from High School MAJ Woodruff attended Marion Military Institute in Marion Alabama, where he was commissioned and assigned to the Michigan Army National Guard.

Upon completion of EOBC MAJ Woodruff worked as a Maintenance and Float Bridge Platoon Leader in the 1437th.

MAJ Woodruff’s next assignment was the Republic of Korea to serve in the 44th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. While in the 44th Engineer Battalion MAJ Woodruff served as the Adjutant and as a Platoon Leader in Bravo Company 44th Engineer Battalion.

His next assignment was with the 35th Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri where he served as an Executive Officer in Charlie Company and as the Battalion Operations Officer. MAJ Woodruff then attended the Engineer Officer Advance Course and CAS3.

Upon completion of the Engineer Officer Advance Course and CAS3, MAJ Woodruff was assigned to Fort Hood and the 20th Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. While assigned to the 20th Engineer Battalion, MAJ Woodruff served as the Battalion S4, Assistant Battalion Operations Officer and Company Commander of Bravo Company 20th Engineer Battalion. While serving as a Company Commander, the 1st Cavalry Division deployed to IRAQ in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II from March 2004 until Mar 2005.

MAJ Woodruff has served as a Maintenance Platoon leader, Float Bridge Platoon Leader, Mechanized Engineer Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Battalion Adjutant, Battalion S-4, Battalion Assistant Operations Officer, Company Commander and has served on Division Engineer Staff. His Military Education includes the Engineer Officer Basic and Advance Courses, CAS3 and Airborne School.

MAJ Woodruff’s awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal with service star, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korean National Defense Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Parachutists Badge.

MAJ Woodruff is married to the former Jennifer Carmody of Newberry, Michigan and they have two sons Zachery of seven and Alex who is four. They currently reside in Houghton, Michigan.
