My name is Lina Gómez. I come from Colombia (South America). This is my second year living in Houghton and I really enjoy this warm community. My husband is a Ph. D student in the Mechanical Engineering Department, and actually I'm working as a volunteer teaching Spanish classes in the community. I earned a Master's degree in Communication at University of Puerto Rico. While I was studying my master, I was the president of the Graduate Student Council, and I also worked as a volunteer in the Corporate Social Responsibility Center of Puerto Rico. During my experience at University of Puerto Rico, I also worked in the Communication Graduate Program improving the relations and communications between the graduate program, graduate students and alumni. As a result of my work the first website of the graduate program and a bi-weekly newsletter was executed. My name is Bethany Broeders and my husband Brian is an Electrical Enginerring student at Michigan Tech. We moved here from Escanaba, MI about 3 hours south! We have a 1 1/2 year old son, Benjamin, that we love to watch grow and learn from everyday. I graduated from Lake Superior State University with a Bachelors in Business Administration in 2003. I now have a full time job working as an Office Assistant for Kevin's Self Storage. We have really enjoyed living in Daniell Heights for the past year and like to be invovled in all the activities the DHRC organizes. I love meeting new people and creating new memories along the way. I have had the pleasure of being the DHRC Interim President for the past month and would like to continue this position for the next year. I would do my best to follow in the foot steps of our previous presidents and continue to contribute to the community. My name is Edwar Romero. I'm from Colombia and this is my third year living in Houghton. I'm a Ph.D candidate in the Mechanical Engineering Department. I have a wonderful wife and we enjoyed our life in this community. Currently, I'm one of the advisors of the International Business Venture enterprise team at Michigan Tech. Before arriving at Michigan Tech, I was an instructor for two years in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Turabo University in Puerto Rico. When I was working as an instructor I edited a Laboratory Manual and collaborated with the improvement of two laboratories for the accreditation of the Department. |
