| Bike Storage | |
|---|---|
| top | Residents have the opportunity to store their bikes in hall storage over the winter. Between the damaging weather and snow plows, most students use this free storage option as opposed to hauling their bike home with them over breaks. |
| Cable TV | |
| top | Residence hall rooms have cable TV service provided by Michigan Tech. Included in the channel lineup is the Husky Movie Vision channel, which shows student-selected movies. Premium channels are also available by subscription. For a channel lineup and more information, click here. |
| Computer Connections | |
| top | Computing at Michigan Tech is available in many places and in many ways. Each major has computing facilities with the hardware and software that you will need for your coursework. Your basic computing fee provides you with a computer lab, basic office software, applications specific to your department, and the printing resources you will need. | Fitness Rooms | |
| top | For the fitness enthusiast, each hall has a fitness room, well-equipped with aerobic and weight training equipment. All residence hall students can join the Tri-Hall Weight Club for a nominal fee. Visit the Tri-Hall Weight Club website for details. |
| Furnishings | |
| top | The average room measures about 12 feet by 15 feet. A typical double room includes a bunk bed or loftable beds, chest of drawers, two desks, two study chairs, waste basket, and carpeting. Triple and quad rooms are furnished accordingly. If you live in McNair Hall, you may request to add or remove furniture from your room by contacting your RA. However, bed springs and bed ends must remain in your room at all times. Provided furnishings cannot be removed from the resident room. Residents are responsible for replacement cost of missing room furniture. Storing or placing room furniture in the hallway or in an off-campus location is prohibited. Prior to checking out of the residence hall, furniture should be placed back to the original locations. Please remember that dressers and book shelves are not supports for bed springs. The springs will cause damage to the furniture. Public area furnishings moved to resident rooms will be returned, and the residents responsible will be charged with violating university policy. |
| Game Rooms | |
| top | The game rooms offer a variety of recreational equipment from pool tables to arcade games. Equipment is provided by each residence hall council and may be checked out at the Reception Desks. |
| Kitchenettes | |
| top | Kitchenettes provide a place for students to make anything from a light snack to a gourmet meal. Each is furnished with a stove, microwave, sink and refrigerator. Douglass Houghton hall has a kitchenette on the ground floor. In McNair there are kitchenettes on each floor. Wadsworth hall has fourteen kitchenettes that are strategically located on each floor throughout the building. |
| Laundry Rooms | |
| top | Laundry rooms are conveniently located in each hall. Housing & Residential Life provides and maintains washers free of charge for all residents. Dryers are also provided at a cost of twenty-five cents per cycle. |
| Linens for Bedding | |
| top | Since we do not furnish bed linens, you are encouraged to purchase linens prior to arrival. The standard mattress size is 36 inches by 80 inches. Extra-long twin sheets fit best. You are responsible for laundering your own linens. You may purchase linens online at www.rhl.org/linens.aspx. |
| Music Rooms | |
| top | Each hall has a music room where students may play their instruments. A piano is located in each of these rooms. |
| Phone Service | |
| top | Each residence hall room includes a single phone line. You will need to provide your own telephone. On-campus, local, toll-free, and domestic long distance calls can be made from your room at no charge. On-campus calls are made by dialing the last five digits of the telephone number. For further details, visit www.tc.mtu.edu/voice/voiceservices/techconnect.htm. Voicemail is available at no cost if you wish to sign up. With multiple students per room, voicemail trees can be set up so you have a private voicemail box. See www.tc.mtu.edu/voice/voiceservices/voicemail/students/index.php. |
| Refrigerators | |
| top | Refrigerators are provided for residents that live in rooms with private baths in Wadsworth Hall. If you are not assigned to this area, you are welcome to bring a refrigerator with you, but it must not be larger than 25" wide x 25" deep x 35" high. University owned refrigerators are available for rent at the Refrigerator Rental Form. |
| Saunas | |
| top | Saunas are available for students in each residence hall. Hours for use are posted in the respective hall. |
| Study Areas | |
| top | Many areas, specifically designated for studying, are located in each residence hall. A quiet environment is observed there at all times. |
